Oval and Pear Engagement Rings
Round diamonds are the default. Oval and pear diamonds are what people choose when they want something a little less expected. Both shapes are elongated, so they cover more of the finger than a round stone of the same weight and make the hand look longer and slimmer. Our oval and pear engagement ring collection brings the two together so you can compare them side by side before you commit.
Every centre stone is a certified lab grown diamond with the same hardness, brilliance, and grading as a mined one. A lab grown oval engagement ring or a lab grown pear engagement ring costs roughly 30-40% less than a mined equivalent, so most buyers use the difference to go up in carat or clarity.
Whether you want an oval diamond ring with a quiet solitaire profile, a pear solitaire ring with a dramatic point, or something more decorative, each design is hand-finished in 18K white, yellow, or rose gold and ready to order today.
Shop Oval & Pear RingsOval vs. Pear: How They Differ on the Hand
The two shapes look similar in photos and quite different when worn. This is the short version.
| Shape | Look | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Oval Cut | A symmetrical, softly curved outline with round-brilliant sparkle and no corners to catch. | Everyday wear, and anyone who wants a modern ring that still feels classic. |
| Pear Cut | A teardrop with one rounded end and one tapered point, so each angle looks slightly different. | Buyers who want a distinctive silhouette with a clear point of difference. |
If you can't decide, start with the oval. It's the easier shape to live with, and a well-cut oval cut diamond ring rarely disappoints. Choose the pear if you want people to ask about it.
Oval and Pear Ring Settings
The setting changes the personality of the ring more than the shape does.
Oval Solitaire Rings
An oval solitaire ring keeps the focus on one stone. The oval diamond shape suits slim bands and east-west or north-south orientations alike, and it's the style most people picture when they search for an oval diamond wedding ring.
Oval Halo Engagement Rings
An oval halo engagement ring surrounds the oval center diamond with a ring of matched accent stones. It adds visible size and sparkle without adding carat weight, which makes it a smart choice on a fixed budget.
Pear Solitaire and Three Stone Rings
A pear solitaire shows off the tapered point. A pear three stone ring places the teardrop between two smaller diamonds, adding symbolism and extra shine along the finger. Either pear diamond setting works best with the point facing the fingertip.
Wedding Bands and Stackers
Many couples also look for a pear diamond wedding ring or a slim pear diamond band that sits flush against the engagement ring. Pair a pear wedding ring with a curved or contoured band so the two sit together without a gap.
Three Decisions, In Order
Elongated shapes have a few quirks that round diamonds don't, so it helps to decide in this sequence.
Proportions & Bow Tie
Look for an oval ratio near 1.35:1 and a pear near 1.5:1. Check the photos for an oval diamond bow tie, the darker shadow across the middle. A well-cut stone keeps it faint.
Color & Clarity
Oval diamond color shows slightly more at the tips, so G-H or better is a safe target. For oval diamond clarity, VS2 is usually eye-clean, so you needn't pay for a flawless grade.
Setting & Metal
Choose solitaire, halo, or three stone based on how much sparkle you want, then match the gold tone to the jewelry you already wear every day.
Choosing Your Gold Finish
The diamond stays identical across all three 18K options. What changes is the contrast around it.
White Gold
Bright and rhodium-plated, it gives the highest contrast and keeps attention on the diamond. It's the most common pick for a first engagement ring.
Yellow Gold
An oval yellow gold ring has a warm, timeless look and the lowest upkeep, since the color never needs replating.
Rose Gold
An oval diamond rose gold ring reads soft and romantic. The copper content also makes it the most scratch-resistant for daily wear.
